Who put it together? Andrew and Silvia, the proprietors, run Caterpillar Catfish Cookhouse as a funky guesthouse with a spunky restaurant and bar. Silvia is Italian and also a Drama teacher. They have put together all the furniture and dcor themselves. Most of the paintings in the rooms, restaurant and bar, are done by Andrew himself. Andrew has a passion for Blues, and has dedicated some of the rooms to the great blues legends like, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Nina Simone. Its a beautiful experience to be booked into a room filled with such ambiance. Andrew spends most of his time on the farm, wheruopn the guesthouse is located. Classic, following Andrew's personality, the guesthouse is also full of impulsive changes, fascinating and charming gestures and always friendly - which you will notice in all the staff

But why the name? It comes a long way. When visiting the farm during the months of November, December and January, you will find the most awesome caterpillars everywhere, and of course catfish all round. But we do not catch them or cook them.

Who's doing what? Tiza, Re and Ndoda and Andrew run the kitchen with characteristic African inspiration. They have a flair for putting a marvelous looking and delightful tasting plate together. Thandi does all the reservations and runs the "shop" where she makes all the best homemade sweets this side of the mountain. She is as sweet as fudge.

The bar is run by Mxolisi - you will find he's enthusiasm about life very pleasing. He runs the Pianola Bar. You'll get a kick out of him.

Housekeeping is flanked by Nxolo, Pali and Spumandla. Qcaphela keeps the gardens in dazzling condition. He always complains in winter, as there is little one can do on the crest of Oliviershoek Pass, next to the Sterkfontein dam, when the cold and frost sets in. Not to even mention the August winds钅 summertime, and the living is easy...

And then there are the twins: Annacletta and Anastasia. They run the dining room and tea garden as it is their own. Welcoming, accommodating and with broad smiles they work hard and are pleased if you are satisfied. So do dinner, do lunch.
